BloodSpell is a machinima made movie using the Neverwinter Nights gaming engine.

The basis of the story is that there are people called “Blooded” whose blood carries magic which when released unweilds great power. The “Blooded” hide in the slums area of the city from the church and are commanded by their divine masters to “cleanse” their blood magic.

A young monk escapes the church when is own blood is spilt and thus is on the run from the church and the choices he makes on his journey will change the world.

The movie will be released in parts with the first one hopefully coming out before the end of the year and the weekly 3-5 minute episodes until the movie is completed.

You can download a trailer in Quicktime, Windows Media Player or DIVX at Bloodspell Preview.

Retro Gaming Goodness 2

A new service has recently started up called Gametap. This allows people to play all kinds of games from just about system that you can think of as well as Arcade games.

It is only supported on Windows machines at the moment unfortunately and requires 5GB of hard drive space and a broadband connection. I think the biggest concern for most people is that the cost of this service is going to be $14.95 USD per month after an initial 2 week trial.

I really loved some of the games they have available but as I am ditching Windows, unless they bring out a Mac version I won’t be using it. It is well worth a look though for those old enough to remember table-top arcade machines and receiving an Atari 2600 for Christmas.

Retro Gaming Goodness 1

Picked this site from over at Digg.com. This won’t play all those modern games like the PSP does but damn it would be a lot of fun to be able to play all the games we used to play as kids and young adults (for those old enough to remember retro games). It has been built using a GNU/Linux base which should make it stable and also allwo “homebrewers” to do some cool stuff with it as well.

It appears to be reasonably priced also but will have to wait and see some reviews first before I rush out and order one.

With the ability to play games, movies, ebooks and more. Free Emulators for SNES, NES, GB, GBC and GBA, Sega Mega Drive, Master System, Spectrum, C64, Atari, PC Engine, MAME, MSX, Neo Geo Pocket, Game Gear and more. Even a TV-Out!!
